The power of Prayer

Prayer is our direct line to God. Prayer is talking with Almighty God; Our soul connects with God, not in contemplation or meditation, but in direct address to Him. Prayer may be oral or mental, occasional or constant. We pray to praise God, thank Him and express our love to Him. We pray to enjoy His company and tell Him what is going on in our lives. We pray to tell him our needs, seek His protection and ask for wisdom. It is impossible to please God without prayers. Faith is the real power of prayer. Life and death are in the power of the tongue.(proverbs 18:21). Our faith is released through our word. The mouth speaks from the abundance of the heart. Jesus has given us the authority to bind and loose every evil if we call his name in faith during prayer. Every knee in heaven and earth shall bow at the mention of the name of Jesus Christ.

The name of Jesus Christ: The authority in the Name. The power in the Name. The victory in the Name. There is a great power in God's name. It can destroy every evil work and can stop them from any further attack.

The blood of Jesus Christ:The power in the Blood. The Healing in the Blood. The cleansing in the Blood. We are redeemed by the blood of Jesus. The blood of Jesus can break satanic yokes and destroy their evil plans.

Both combined is enough for a christian to defeat every stronghold.

No Christian is greater than his prayer-life. No amount of prayer said is enough and no amount of prayer will deliver us from temptation, but it will deliver us in temptation.  A prayer done without faith and hope is empty. The secret of praying is in the joy of praying ; the joy of being in Gods glory. Time cease to exist when you enter the spirit realm during prayers. It is impossible to defeat the forces of darkness without prayers. For a successful warfare, We must pray continually for hours without giving up. Don't get distracted by the physical realm. Focus on the spiritual realm for our God is a spirit.  The man who kneels in prayer will be humbled before God.

" Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you" Thessalonians 5:16-18

Sometimes our prayers seems unanswered or ignored. The bible says,

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened" Matthew 7:7-8

Every Christian that prays in faith will receive whatever he asks including the gifts of miracles. A specific gift of miracles is granted unto a believer not for himself but to capture the attention of the nonbeliever so that they will be open to the gospel and glorify God. Patience, sincerity and perseverance brings smiles to a prayerful heart. Daily prayers brings daily cleansing through the name of Jesus Christ. Prayer brings victory, peace, joy, comfort, healing, contentment and holiness to a believer. It is the key to our final destination after death. Through prayers God sets us free from witchcraft, curses, idolatry, disease, unforgiving, depression, loneliness, poverty and addictions. With prayers we will overcome the powers of darkness and principalities. Ungodliness leads to eternal death

" For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places" Ephesians 6:12

Daily prayers, fasting and full repentance is the most powerful spiritual discipline of every born again Christian. The enemy does not want us to pray and he employs every means possible to distract our prayers. During prayers, distractions can come in various ways and we must do our utmost best to rebuke them. For our prayers to reach heaven we must focus our attention with sufficient intensity and concentration. Prayers said in truth and spirit can travel with the speed of thought, it reaches God before the next thought crosses our mind. God wants us to pray with our whole heart because his love for us is unconditional.

In order to help improve the readers prayer life, the following guidelines are necessary to know before you start praying.

Repent: Sin weakens your prayer life. if you want to win in a spiritual warfare you must repent of your sin. if you want your prayer to be effective you must strive to live a Holy life. Get sin out of your life. Sin gives the devil power over a person.

God loves you and He cares for you: Always know that God loves you and He is willing to listen to an honest prayer.  Zephaniah 3:17; 1 peter 5:7

God is happy to hear your prayer:   Prayers of the upright men delights God. It is important to know that the prayer of a repented Sinner makes God happy and He is willing to forgive you for He detests the sacrifice of the wicked. Proverbs 15:8

Be silent , concentrate, submit and connect to God: Open your heart , be still, reach out for his love for a few minutes before you start praying. Psalm 46:10; Zechariah 2:13

God knows your prayer before you even start: Remember ! God is omnipresent . He is in the past, present and future. He sees our heart and knows a genuine prayer. Isaiah 65:24

Thank God for everything: Begin your prayer with a thankful heart and praises. Reflect on the joy of still being alive and having the chance to repent. Thank him for his mercies and blessings. Psalm 103:2;  1 Thessalonians 5:18

Sing to God: worship the lord with songs of joy, praises and thanksgiving. Songs will help you to go in spirit and elevate you to a higher realm. A saddened heart will rejoice when the soul sings to the Lord. Songs will relax your soul and set your spirit free. Psalm 95:1-8

Let His will be done: Don't  ask God to bless you. Just tell him your needs and let his will be done for God has a better plan for you. Matthew 6:10; Jeremiah 29:11

Forgive others: It is very important that you forgive, for only then will God forgive your sins. colossians 3:13; Matthew 6:14-15; luke 17:3-4; Ephesians 4:31-32;

Apply the Breakthrough mentality: This is the mentality that you are in a warfare with the evil forces and you are going to fight until you win. you will not give up and will never accept defeat. you will apply every step necessary to defeat the devil.

The Holy Bible: Develop the habit of reading the word of God and try to apply it during prayers by quoting the verses. The enemy hates to hear the word

Trust in God: God's ways are different from man's way. If your prayer is not answered immediately, do not be angry and do not provoke God, be patient and trust him. Isaiah 55:8

The lord Jesus Christ taught us how to pray in the Bible.

The Lord's prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen. Matthew 6:9–13

Jesus instructs us to pray in the manner prescribed in the lords prayer but he did not say that other prayers are not accepted. Though the lord's prayer is a powerful prayer, it is also a guideline on how to pray. All prayers done in truth and in spirit delights God. Always begin your day with prayers for you do not know if you will see the next day. If you want to give your life to Jesus, please say this simple prayer with your whole heart.

           Repentance prayer

Lord Jesus, I am a sinner and I truly regret all my sins. Please forgive me and make me clean.

From this moment I turn my back on sin and I renounce every evil spirit that has me bound.

Please come into my heart and be my savior. Fill me with thy Holy spirit and give me the grace to sin no more.

I believe that you died on the cross so that i may have abundant life.           Thank you for loving me. Amen

Having said this prayer. You must strive to practice daily repentance. Ask God to forgive you on daily basis and do your best to avoid all kinds of sins.

Below are some of the sins that separates us from God.

  • Adultery- sex outside marriage
  • Fornication- sex before marriage

  • Self-indulgence-Homosexuality, lesbianism, lasciviousness, sexual perversion and pornography.
  • Addictions- Gambling, smoking, alcohol consumption, drugs dealing and using, unholy music, partying and clubbing
  • Sins of heart- evil thoughts, envy, jealousy, lust
  • Sins of mouth- use of bad words, gossip, judging others, cursing, taking oath, false accusation, false witness, swearing.

  • Murder, Telling Lies, Theft , Cheating, fighting , Hatred, Unforgiving, Pride, Covetousness
  • Blasphemy against the holy spirit.
  • Disobedience: Violation of the  ten commandments is a sin.

Jesus warns us that all sins can be forgiven except the sin against The Holy spirit and accepting the mark of the beast 666.

" Truly Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter, but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin.”  Mark 3:28-29

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the spirit of God, the third person in the Holy Trinity. The Holy spirit and God are one. God the father created the universe through the Son Jesus Christ and by the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus is the word of God and the Holy spirit is the power of God. The Holy Spirit is like the air we breath. He is everywhere waiting for you to breath Him in. When you open your heart He will come in and give you life but when you close your heart He stays out for He does not dwell in an unclean temple. A body without air will die and likewise a soul without the Holy Spirit is lost.

"Do you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you. whom you have received from God? you are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore glorify God with your body" 1 Corinthians 6: 18-20

. The Holy Spirit empowers a true believer with Wisdom, understanding, counseling, fortitude, knowledge, piety and fear of the lord. The bible tells us in the book of Galatians 5:25, that if we live by the spirit, we must also be guided by the spirit but the opposite is evident in our world today. Many Christians have so much ignored the holy spirit that they practically ask him to step aside while they do things their own way. When the Holy Spirit dwells in a believer, he blesses the person with the fruit of love, joy, peace, gentleness, faithfulness, generosity, kindness and patience. During prayers The Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.

“These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. "John 14:25-26 ESV

The gift of prayer is open to all. The church needs prayer warriors who can pray down fire from heaven. You and I can be prayer warriors.

" Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7

Amen
